The RSR&RSYP Centro-Norte Section 2026 activity was carried out as part of the IEEE IES Hubs and Nodes initiative in Brazil-Amazonas, in connection with the IEEE Centro-Norte Brazil Section. The event served as an important regional action to strengthen the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) community, promote technical engagement, and expand collaboration among students, Young Professionals, researchers, academics, and industry professionals.
The activity attracted approximately 86 participants and directly engaged 3 companies (Planet, WiMilk, and Look and Feel) industries through participation, networking, technical discussions, and partnership opportunities. The event also supported the growth of IEEE IES membership in the region and reinforced the role of the Manaus node in expanding the impact of the Hubs and Nodes initiative in Brazil.
About the activity
Run under the IEEE IES Hubs and Nodes program, the activity focused on strengthening the IEEE IES presence within the IEEE Centro-Norte Brazil Section, with special emphasis on the Amazonas region. The event created an opportunity to discuss technical topics, identify industry needs, promote IEEE IES benefits, and connect students and Young Professionals with academic and industry leaders.
The activity also contributed to the development of future initiatives, including new partnerships, follow-up meetings, and actions to support the creation of new IEEE IES Student Branch Chapters in the region.

Outcomes
- Approximately 86 participants, including students, Young Professionals, researchers, and industry professionals.
- 3 industries (Planet, WiMilk, and Look and Feel) directly engaged through participation, networking, technical discussions, or partnership opportunities.
- 57 IEEE IES memberships achieved by the end of April 2026 in the IEEE Centro-Norte Brazil Section, compared with 14 IES members at the end of 2025.
- 43 new IEEE IES members estimated as a direct result of the activity and related engagement efforts.
- A new IEEE IES Student Branch Chapter at the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT) is in progress, with the petition already submitted.
- Ongoing contact with two Student Branches to support the creation of new IEEE IES Student Branch Chapters at UFG and UFAM.
Impact
The activity achieved and exceeded the proposed deliverable of 40 IEEE IES memberships for the IEEE Centro-Norte Brazil Section. By the end of April 2026, the section reached 57 IES members, representing an increase of more than four times compared with the 14 members registered at the end of 2025.
This growth reflects the combined effort of the Manaus node, the leadership of Janislley Oliveira, and the support provided by the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society during the Section Meeting. The activity strengthened the regional IES community, expanded student and Young Professional engagement, and created new opportunities for collaboration with universities and industry partners.
