On June 4, 2026, the UTFPR IEEE Student Branch hosted a strategic seminar focused on the transition from academia to the workforce. The event officially marked the resumption of the Student Branch’s activities and celebrated a major milestone: the launch of the university’s first IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) Student Chapter. Funded by the IEEE Young Professionals STEP (Student Transition & Elevation Program), the event connected students with mentors and highlighted global career and volunteering opportunities available after graduation.

  • Prof. Marco Wehrmeister (UTFPR) - Led the academic mentorship session, providing guidance on research pathways and graduate studies.
  • Iohana Cabral (Specialist at Banco Itaú) - Conducted the career mentorship session, addressing market demands and what corporations look for in recent graduates.
  • Gabriel Borges (UFRN) - Presented a global overview of the IEEE and IES, emphasizing opportunities for volunteering and engagement in international initiatives.
